Netflix has just unveiled the full cast for the highly anticipated drama The WONDERfools, featuring stars Park Eun Bin, Cha Eun Woo, Kim Hae Sook, Choi Dae Hoon, Im Sung Jae, and Son Hyun Joo. On November 1, the streaming giant confirmed the production, sending K-drama fans into a frenzy of excitement.
The WONDERfools promises to be a unique blend of action, comedy, and supernatural powers set against the vibrant backdrop of 1999, an era marked by apocalyptic beliefs and end-of-the-century anxieties. The series follows an unlikely group of quirky neighbors from the fictional town of Haeseong, who suddenly gain superpowers and must team up to defend their town from a new wave of villains threatening the local peace.
Park Eun Bin will star as Eun Chae Ni, Haeseong’s resident “adorable disaster.” Known for her clumsy yet spirited personality, Chae Ni finds herself entangled in a series of chaotic events that lead her to discover newfound powers. Cha Eun Woo will play Lee Woon Jung, a by-the-book public servant who strikes up an unlikely bond with Chae Ni as they investigate a string of mysterious disappearances in their town.
Veteran actress Kim Hae Sook joins the cast as Kim Jeon Bok, Chae Ni’s grandmother and owner of a popular local restaurant, harboring dark secrets from her past. Meanwhile, Choi Dae Hoon and Im Sung Jae will portray Son Kyung Hoon and Kang Robin, two notorious troublemakers in Haeseong who, after gaining unstable superpowers, find themselves teaming up with Chae Ni to protect their town. Rounding out the cast is Son Hyun Joo as Ha Won Do, a mysterious and calculating figure with hidden motives, concealed behind a meticulously cold exterior.
Directed by Yoo In Shik of Extraordinary Attorney Woo fame, with a script penned by Extreme Job writer Heo Da Joong, The WONDERfools boasts an all-star production team. The series is also produced by the renowned Kang Eun Kyung, the creative mind behind Dr. Romantic and Gyeongseong Creature.
