Lee Yi Kyung recently opened up about his decision to take on the highly anticipated drama Face Me! In a recent interview, the actor shared his motivations for the role and exclusive insights into his character.
Face Me is a mystery thriller following an unlikely duo: reserved plastic surgeon Cha Jeong Woo (played by Lee Min Ki) and passionate detective Lee Min Hyeong (Han Ji Hyun). Together, they use reconstructive surgery techniques to solve crimes, bringing a unique and intriguing approach to complex cases.
In the drama, Lee Yi Kyung portrays Han Woo Jin, an extroverted and warm-hearted plastic surgeon who shares a loyal friendship with Cha Jeong Woo. According to Lee Yi Kyung, playing Han Woo Jin gave him a chance to dive into a character filled with empathy and lightheartedness. “He’s like the older brother everyone wants—a friendly, down-to-earth guy,” he described.
When asked what motivated him to choose Face Me, Lee Yi Kyung explained, “From the beginning, I was drawn to the genre and the challenge of playing a plastic surgeon. It’s a fascinating role that adds depth to my work as an actor.”
To prepare for the role, Lee Yi Kyung worked alongside real plastic surgeons to understand medical procedures. “I consulted specialists to learn precise stitching techniques and even practiced at home using adhesive tapes. Plus, I wore glasses for the first time to match the character’s look, which was an exciting change,” he shared, hinting at his transformation for the role.
The actor described Face Me as a drama packed with twists and suspense. “It’s a show that will keep viewers engaged from start to finish. They’ll sense it right from the first episode,” he teased, building anticipation for the premiere.
With Face Me set to premiere on November 6, taking over from Dog Knows Everything, Lee Yi Kyung expressed his hope for viewers to enjoy the drama’s intense, emotional plot: “This is a unique medical drama blending mystery and chase elements, perfect for colder nights. I hope everyone gets wrapped up in Face Me and all the emotions it brings.”
